The results of the All-Russian Competition for creating a comfortable urban environment in small towns and historical settlements were summed up

On February 28, in Tyumen, the results of the All-Russian Competition for creating a comfortable urban environment in small towns and historical settlements were summed up. In total, 300 concepts were received to participate in the competition, of which 80 best projects were selected. These projects will receive a state grant in the amount of 30 to 100 million rubles.

The All-Russian Competition for creating a comfortable urban environment in small towns and historical settlements was organized on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and was first held in 2018.

The competition objective is the support of projects aimed at creating of attractive urban spaces that contribute to improving the quality of life, attracting tourists, and developing the services industry. In the case of historical settlements, this means using the existing historical potential of the town: unique heritage sites, specific development environment and attractive landscapes.

The competition expert panel included Elena Popova, the head of the urban research department of RTDA. In her speech at the award ceremony, Ms. Popova talked about what factors should be considered when developing projects, and noted the particular importance of choosing the right site, which largely determines the success of a future project.
